The U.S. Bureau of Commerce released (PDF) on August 19, 2022, the second quarter of 2022 US e-commerce e-commerce is estimated to be $257.3 billion, up 2.7% compared to the first quarter of 2022.

The Department of Commerce defines e-commerce as “goods and services that are ordered by a consumer, or priced and sold over the Internet, mobile devices, extranets, electronic data exchange, electronic information or other comparable online systems. Payment may or may not be made online.

The total retail value estimated at $ 1,778.6 billion – e-commerce and brick-and-mortar – for the second quarter of 2022 represents an increase of 1.9% from the first quarter.

According to the DoC, e-commerce will account for 14.5% of total US commerce in the second quarter of 2022.
